The building of the Church of the Bohemian Brethren is currently used as an exhibition and concert hall with exceptional acoustic properties. The building is a major historical sight in Mladá Boleslav and one of the oldest renaissance pseudo-basilicas outside Italy. It is a reminder of the famous history of the town in the 16th century, when Mladá Boleslav was the centre of the Bohemian Brethren.
The foundation stone was probably laid already in 1544 and Matteo Borgorelli was called upon to complete the project. The architect was commissioned by Kunrát Krajíř of Krajek, the owner of the Mladá Boleslav dominion. The church was completed during Easter 1554. The church closed down after the death of Arnošt Krajíř, the last member of the Krajíř family and subsequently was used for the originally intended purpose for the last time from the Letter of Majesty (1609) to the Battle of Bílá hora (1620), after which it closed down permanently and was transferred to the catholic church.
The church was operated as a military warehouse from 1787 and this led to disrupted stability of the building. After being urged to do so by the Regional Museum Association, the town acquired the building in 1899 and housed the museum here. Comprehensive renovation of the devastated building under the management of the architect Antonín Wiehl commenced in 1905 and was completed in 1908. The church was rebuilt into a concert and exhibition hall during the subsequent major renovation in the 1970s.
