It was the nobility from Hrubá Skála who had the chapel built in the 2nd half of the 17th century. Its exposed location 465 metres above sea level makes it a distinctive element in the landscape but at the same time it is a reason for frequent damage to the chapel by lightning strikes and wind gusts. In 1825 it was given to the municipality which in 1830 started restoration of the original foundations. The chapel then got its present appearance of a brick, single-nave structure of elongated octagonal ground plan, with a gabled roof with polygonal ending on both sides, a low flèche and cross on the top. The chapel was repaired several times on the outside as well as inside. In between the World Wars there were periods when the chapel even served for services of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church.
For its artistic and historical value the Chapel of St. Anna was entered in 1963 in the list of cultural monuments. The last repairs to the exterior and interior together with restoration of the furnishings of the chapel took place after extensive research in 2011
